Review:

It’s been a long time coming but finally, finally, the end to this epic series will be released this month.  I had the pleasure of reading this book when it was first released and meeting the author in person.  I get the chance to meet him again as he’ll be in my town for his newest book release, Inheritance, Book 4 of what was intended as a trilogy.  The back story behind this book is that he wrote it at the age of fifteen and promoted it with his parents way before it was the phenomenon it is today.  It has been made into a movie but the budget didn’t begin to do the book justice in any way.

In honor of the end of this epic story, I decided to listen to book one, all fifteen hours, as I commuted this month.  It could not have been a more enjoyable experience as the actor reading the book was superb beyond words.  Gerard Doyle has won numerous awards for his audio readings and Eragon was a marathon production that involved recording for eight hours, reading ahead at night, and coming in the next day for another eight hours.  What I especially enjoyed as I listened to the story were the details I didn’t remember reading the first time around.  The story had me so enraptured that I just didn’t notice them or I simply read over them.  A truly wondrous experience and I can’t wait to start the audio version of book two, Eldest!
